Mª José Pujol (Barcelona, 1971) is an artist that shows signs of artistic talent from an early age. Began her art study at “La Llotja Escola d’arts i oficis” in Barcelona, specializing in illustration.

Her work in the early years is Symbolist, full of poetry and mysticism. Inspired by the mystical poetry of great literature, his time is plenty of symbolist oil paintings.

For years, she combines her personal work with portraits, among which are the specialties of coal, sepia, pastel and oil.

The admiration for the great engravers such as Piranessi, Dürer and Goya, make the artist interested in engraving and, in 2001, starts learning in an intensive course at the studio of the artist Roser Sales.

After studying the different techniques, she decides to specialize in drypoint, etching and aquatint.

Concerned about Ecology, the artist has researched and adapted non-toxic techniques of engraving, considering low toxicity in the development of stamping as fundamental.

The inks used in stamping are water-based and non-toxic.

All the artist’s work is original, created, stamped, numbered and signed by herself.

In her engravings used the technique the Poupée, which is considered rather as a hybrid between painting and engraving, consists of inking a same plate with various colors, each engrave should be inked again and never leave two equal engravings, there are always differences .

Her collection of engravings is focused on the most important artistic and monumental sets of Catalonia, including some of the parks and gardens featured by its historical and artistic value and its beautiful sculptural ornamentation. Through his work the artist aims to highlight those of greatest artistic interest.
